The Hydrological Cycle and the Stormy Day
Yesterday, a storm hit our area, causing strong rain and lightning that lasted for hours. The clouds were dark and thick, covering the sky. The river started to rise quickly, and some areas near the lake were at risk of flooding. The ocean was churning, and the humidity increased dramatically. I was scanning the weather reports on my desk when I realized how close the aquifer levels were to being affected by the drop in water supply. The storm could have been even worse if it weren’t for the efforts of local medical teams, who kept people safe by monitoring the situation. My mother was also worried, as the storm seemed to be surrounding our house. In these moments, I always thank the professionals who keep us informed, as their work is surrounded by business and urgency. I also sing praises for how technology helps us stay safe.
